The majority of these pieces of equipment operate in a similar fashion but vary in their physical size, how complex they are to use, and the applications in which they excel. Consult a trusted and experienced sandblasting machinery manufacturer in order to figure out which type of machine is best for your application and investigate any additional components that may add value to your operation.
Sandblasting is a form of surface preparation that uses a stream of propellant that contains an abrasive material, which can sometimes be sand but can also contain steel shot, or even organic materials such as crushed nuts or fruit kernel shells. The propellant is typically water or air, although occasionally centrifugal force is used to propel the abrasive material.
Once this material hits the surface being treated it strips, cleans and can roughen up the surface in order to prepare for paint or other forms of treatment or finish. Portable sandblasting equipment is usually much smaller than stationary sandblasting machinery. Their smaller size allows them to be moved by hand or placed on a trailer for longer distances.
Blast cabinets, on the other hand, are a self-contained type of sandblasting machinery in which the operator inserts his hands into protective gloves and manipulates a small piece inside of the machine. Blast rooms are the largest form of sandblasting equipment and can handle very large parts or prepare a large number of parts.
They are typically a sealed room that is equipped with a dust extraction & ventilation system, while a protected worker operates inside of the room.
Whatever your surface preparation needs may be, there is a form of sandblasting machinery for your application. Finding the right manufacturer is half the battle, so connecting with an experienced, trusted and knowledgeable sandblasting machinery manufacturer is the best way to ensure that you are receiving the best possible product that will not only add value to your process but also be durable enough to last years and years with minimal maintenance.
